The journal Studies of Transition States and Societies (STSS) suffered a great loss at the beginning of summer with the passing of Prof. Ellu Saar, who had been one of the journal's editors-in-chief since 2012. Over the twelve years that Prof. Saar served as the editor-in-chief for the sociology section of STSS, she made significant contributions to the development of sociology in Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. We are now pleased to announce that Prof. Marge Unt has taken up the position of Editor-in-Chief for the sociology section of STSS. Marge Unt is a Professor of Comparative Sociology at the Institute of International Social Studies at Tallinn University. Prof. Unt has led and participated in numerous large-scale international research projects (EXCEPT, EUROSHIP, Mapineq, LEARN, etc.), advised government organizations in Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, and Peru, and served on various national and international evaluation committees. Her research interests include life course studies from a comparative perspective, particularly youth transitions to the labor market, gender inequality in employment, late-career dynamics, and the role of social institutions. |
