Aianduse, eriti pomoloogia eestikeelse oskussõnavara lätted [The sources of Estonian terminology in horticulture, especially in pomology]
Abstract
A language and its terminology develop hand in hand with the progress in the economy and education. A breakthrough in the Estonian agricultural (including horticultural) terminology took place about a century ago. This change is evident from the printed media of the time: journals, popular books, handbooks and textbooks. The first horticultural texts are mostly translations from German and Russian, less frequently from French and English. The Estonian horticultural terminology originates from botany and is closely related to dendrology.
